Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you ship?

We currently ship within the continental United States only.

At this time, we do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or California.

Because peonies are perishable, we limit shipping to areas where we can get them there quickly and in good condition.

Read our full Shipping Policy.

When do you ship?

We ship fresh peony orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays via UPS Next Day Air.

At checkout, you can select your preferred ship date from the available options. To ship that same day, your order must be placed by 2 PM EST on the ship date you select.

Because peonies are a fresh, seasonal crop, shipping dates are always based on both bloom timing and weather.

When will my peonies ship? Can I request a certain date?

We’re located in North Carolina, so our peonies often bloom earlier than many other growers. Last year, our first harvest began early to mid-April, and our main production typically runs four weeks—but weather always has the final say.

We ship orders out on Tuesdays and Thursday for overnight delivery. Simply select an available arrival date you wish to receive your peony bundle.

Can I request a specific color or variety?

Because we’re a small, family-run farm with limited harvest windows, we can’t take requests for specific colors or varieties. Your bundle will be Grower’s Choice—filled with the most beautiful peonies blooming during your selected week. (Bundles may include a mix of Sarah Bernhardt, Kansas, and Festiva Maxima, or it may be all one variety if that’s what’s peaking.)

My peonies arrived and look wilted or tight—what’s wrong?

Don’t panic—this is normal! Peonies travel best when they arrive a bit thirsty and closed. They perk up quickly with a little care:

  1. Unbox and remove any foliage that would sit below the waterline.
  2. Recut 1–2 inches off the stems at an angle.
  3. Place them in a clean vase with cool, fresh water.
  4. Give them a couple of hours to rehydrate—most bouquets noticeably plump up and begin to open.

How do I care for my peonies?

As soon as they arrive:

  • Bring them inside and unpack immediately
  • Recut 1–2 inches off the stems
  • Place in a clean vase with cool, fresh water

To keep them looking their best:

  • Keep them out of direct sun and away from heat vents
  • Change the water and refresh the stems every 1–2 days
  • Enjoy the show—peonies often change beautifully as they open

How many stems will I get?

Each bundle includes 10 peony stems. Some stems may have a side bud, which may open later (or not at all). Side buds are a natural part of peonies and can add texture and charm to an arrangement. If you prefer, you can simply snip off any firm, smaller side buds.

Are your peonies fragrant?

Many peony varieties are lightly to beautifully fragrant, but fragrance can vary by variety and bloom stage.

Are your peonies grown on your farm?

Yes — our peonies are grown here on our farm in North Carolina and cut fresh for shipping during our spring season.

Can I send peonies as a gift?

Yes — peonies make a beautiful gift. Because they are perishable, we recommend giving your recipient a quick heads-up so they know to bring the box inside soon after delivery.

How big is your farm?

Our farm is about 14 acres, but peonies are grown on just a small portion of it. Right now, we grow about 1,000 peony plants.

Elsewhere on the farm, we also grow some perennial flowers and vegetables, and share the space with our donkeys, goats, turkeys, geese, ducks, and chickens.

We’re a small family-run farm, and our family helps tend the peonies each season.

Do you spray weed killer?

No — we hand-weed our peony rows ourselves rather than spraying for weeds. In spring, we release ladybugs to help manage aphids naturally. We care deeply about tending our flowers thoughtfully throughout the season.
